TIMELINE
Swim team runs year-round, September – August. (See info about Spring/Summer breaks below.)
Optimal months to start: September - January and April - June. (No starting in March, July, August.)
Members must complete the registration process once each year.
September through March:
Short Course Season (compete in 25-yard pools).
April through August:
Long Course Season (compete in 50-meter pools and 25-yard pools).
BREAKS
Spring Break
The team usually takes 1 week off in March.
Summer Break
The team usually takes 3-4 weeks off between annual swim-seasons, beginning in early to mid-August.
The SHARC facility normally closes for annual maintenance for 2 weeks, starting the day after Labor Day.
The end-date of our current season (in August) and the start-date of our next season (in September) depend on summer meet schedules and when we are able to return to the pool after SHARC's maintenance is complete.

Annual USA Swimming Membership: $92 (2025-2026)
Annual HEAT Registration Fee: $55 (Includes team t-shirt & latex cap. Silicone cap available for upgrade fee of $12.)
Annual HEAT Hospitality Fee: $15 (Helps with home meet expenses.)
Monthly Dues + Pool Use Fee: depends on squad. (See above.) Billed September - July.

OTHER COSTS and COMMITMENTS
Equipment
Cost depends on squad.
Basics start around $75-$100.
Equipment can last year to year.
Meets
Fees are approximately $40-$80 for attending a
2-3 day meet. Members are also charged a $6.50 Travel Fee per meet attended, which goes towards covering coaches' expenses for attending meets.
Meets are optional & offered about once per month.
Charges are included on monthly invoices.
Fundraising (For Annual members. Does not apply to Seasonal/Summer members.)
Amount depends on squad.
Prorated per month (Oct - July).
(Not required for Sparks.)
Prorated at 3 volunteer hours per month (Oct - July).
Unfulfilled hours billed at $20/hour up to $600.

DISCOUNTS
Second swimmer in a family will receive a 5% discount on monthly dues.
Third swimmer (and beyond) in a family will receive a 50% discount on monthly dues.
Dues will be limited to $350 per month after multiple-swimmer discounts have been applied. (This limit does not include monthly pool use fees.)
